Christina Jones
Master of Arts in Management student
Doane College
As part of a class for my Masters program we were asked to examine and
investigate various online topic. The focus group that I am a part of, chose Cyberbullying as our topic.
BUS 610, Communicating in the 21st century, has brought
valuable insight for me as to the many positives and negatives that are the
result of new technology aided communication. Please take a few moments and investigate our blog and the information that we have compiled.
Jamie Prange
My name is Jamie Prange I am currently enrolled in the MAM program at Doane University. This session we are enrolled in Communicating in the 21st Century and each group has been challenged to chose a topic and develop a blog and give a class presentation. Our group has chosen Bullying and Social Media. I will be doing the first part of the presentation that helps to explain the definitions, characteristics, forms of cyber bullying and warning signs. Although I do not have any personal experience with bullying the sheer statistical significance of this offensive and destructive behavior has drawn me in to understand more about it and why it is becoming a more prevalent behavior for children and young adults. It saddens me beyond words that someone could intentionally choose to hurt another human being to the point where they consider or do end their own life. Stay tuned to the blog as we continue to explore the dynamics of "Cyber Bullying".
Abby Buss
My name is Abby Buss I am fresh into the MAM program at
Doane. The topic that our group is working on is Bullying and
Social Media. I have taken on the personal relationship aspect of the topic. I am the type
of person who learns and associates best if I can understand what they are
going through and make that personal connection. I was able to research
multiple videos and stories that I felt did a good job of helping to make that connection. I feel motivated by this topic because, I am firm believer in equal
rights for every person, no matter what. I don’t think it is acceptable for
anyone to be treated different and even worse for a person to be bullied. I
think as an adult and as a potential leader it is necessary for me to
understand what bullying is and what I can do to help to prevent it from
happening.
Pamela Walton-Hill
Hello blogger world! My name is Pamela Walton-Hill. I am
currently a graduate student in the Master in Management program at Doane
College in Lincoln, Nebraska. I will be switching to the Master in Counseling
program in October and am looking forward to starting this program. I have
always been interested in psychology and I have a very strong passion to help
people and change lives.
I hope you are finding our group blog on bullying and social media interesting and take a genuine interest in this topic, just as we have. Cyber bullying is occurring way too often among teens and even adults and we want to raise awareness of this issue. I have taken an interest in this topic due to the alarming rate of suicide among gay teens due to cyber bullying. I believe we should all be able to love who we want without anyone placing judgement. Please help us in raising awareness of this terrible issue by referring others to our blog site. We would greatly appreciate it! We can all make a difference in this world, especially when it comes to cyber bullying, so lets do it!
